By using The Overwhelmed Parent ("the service") you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

What this service is

The Overwhelmed Parent is an independent self-help information tool for international and expat parents navigating maternity, baby admin and benefits in the United Kingdom. It is not affiliated with the NHS, HMRC, DWP, the SVB, or any embassy.

Not medical, legal or financial advice

All content — including generated guides, calendars, reminders, tool outputs and dashboard tabs — is general information only and does not constitute medical, legal, immigration or financial advice. Always consult a qualified professional (midwife, GP, solicitor, immigration adviser, accountant) before making decisions about your health, immigration status, employment or finances.

Benefit amounts, eligibility rules, tax rates and government processes change frequently. Any figures shown are approximate and should be verified with the relevant official body (GOV.UK, HMRC, DWP, SVB) before you rely on them.

Your account

  • You must be 16 or older to create an account.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password confidential.
  • You agree to provide accurate information when you sign up.
  • You may delete your account at any time by emailing us.

Acceptable use

  • Do not use the service to break the law or harass others.
  • Do not attempt to circumvent security or rate limits.
  • Do not scrape, resell or republish our generated content commercially.
  • Personal, non-commercial use is encouraged — including sharing your guide with your partner or HR.

Payments, free trials and refunds

Paid plans are processed by Lemon Squeezy (acting as merchant of record). Prices are shown at checkout in your local currency where available, inclusive of any applicable VAT.

EU consumers have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal on digital services. By starting to use a paid feature you may waive this right where the law permits. For refund requests, contact hello.theoverwhelmedparent@gmail.com and we will respond within 5 working days.

Intellectual property

The service, including the wording of generated guides templates, illustrations and code, is owned by The Overwhelmed Parent and is protected by copyright. Your personalised guide is provided to you under a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence for your personal, non-commercial use.

Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do our best to keep the information accurate and up to date, but we make no warranty that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any information is accurate, complete or current. Use of the service is at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Overwhelmed Parent shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these terms or the service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) GBP 50. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (such as for death, personal injury caused by our negligence, or fraud).

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms or use the service in a way that causes harm. You may stop using the service at any time. On account closure, your personal data is deleted in line with our Privacy Policy.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Nothing in these terms removes any non-waivable consumer rights you have under the law of your country of residence.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms occasionally. Significant changes will be notified by email or via the dashboard. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
